Why Does Rock Music.... Rock?

What is it about Rock music that outlasts the test of time? Seriously, think about it. Yes overall the genre changes a little each decade, but in the end rock is still there and will always be there. Back in the 50's there was Rock and Roll, in the 60's and 70's we had classic rock, 80's was about the punk rock, and 90's was grunge rock. Now, I'm all about the Indie Rock.


I think rock music has its core elements that help it last. If you think about rock music, it is always about very strong emotions. Most of the emotions are ones anyone can relate too. Other music that doesn't stand the test of time is all about the trend and trying to have fun. Disco, for instance, are there that many disco songs out there that can make me feel as romantic as The Plain White T's? No, I didn't think so.

What type of music do you guys listen too. Right now, I'm pretty obsessed with the band The XX they are from the UK. Their CD XX has some brilliant music on it. I'll be doing an album review soon.

What are some songs that you think outlast the test of time? Are you a fan of a Rock genre? If so which do you prefer?
