| This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen Review Posted: 02 Jan 2011 12:08 AM PST This LullabyWritten by: Sarah Dessen Published In: March 2004 Published By: Penguin Group - Speak 352 Pages Paperback Source: Purchased Synopsis: When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn't mess around. After all, she's learned all there is to know from her mother, who's currently working on husband number five. But there's something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy's rules. He certainly doesn't seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can't seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy's starting to understand what those love songs are all about? From acclaimed author Sarah Dessen, this is a captivating novel about a tough-as-nails girl and the unexpectedly charming boy who's determined to soften her up. My Review: This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen reminded me of one of those amazing Chick Flicks that just causes this aching sensation in your heart. This Lullaby was a beautifully told story. The main character Remy started off as sounding bitter. Her overall personality really added to the story line, in the end her bitterness was a way of showing how the past had affected her personality until adulthood. The story progressed understandably. The meeting of Dexter and Remy seemed a bit off at first, but I understood why. Dexter is that outspoken confident, geeky looking guy. It's only natural their meeting be extremely random. Dexter was so interesting to read about, the way he was able to push Remy's buttons, and cause a subtle but slight change in her. Dexter was the perfect main guy character for this book. This Lullaby took an often talked about topic in romance, the fear and risks of love, and took this topic to a whole other level. Sarah Dessen did a great job in showing how scared Remy really was, and how she had been hiding all of that underneath her many, many boyfriends. By the end of this novel, I found myself almost shouting at the characters. It's so easy to let you heart get involved in the story. I like to think of this book, as well as other Sarah Dessen novels, as Romance novels without too much sex; very romantic and heartwarming. Overall I give This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen 4 lanterns. This book had all of the elements of a romantic chick lit story. Links to purchase:

The acne is on your skin right? Just because the acne is on your skin doesn't mean that it's only caused from things externally. Many people don't realize and understand that your skin is just like a sponge, it soaks up water from both sides. Your skin is the same way, your external skincare is important but so is your internal skincare. Internal skincare may sound like a new concept to you but it is how you get clear skin quickly, safely and naturally. | | Simple Tips To Make Your First Date In Minneapolis A Good One Posted: 01 Jan 2011 12:20 AM PST Now you have a date, you asked her, she said yes. The essentials of the diet are to keep the ph balance of food intake at 80% alkaline with 20% acidity. The goal with this diet is to match the ph level of the bloodstream, which runs on the alkaline side. This task can be daunting for many because foods that most people love to indulge themselves on are considered high in acidity. The goal in adding more alkaline into your diet is to identify good sources of alkaline. Creating a comprehensive list of alkaline producing foods will help you make the most of the pH miracle diet. |
| End of 2010 Survey Posted: 31 Dec 2010 05:46 PM PST The Perpetual Page Turner is hosting an end of the year survey so I decided to participate. 1. Best book of 2010?: There is a pretty close tie between Nightshade by Andrea Cremer and Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken. I don't think enough people gave Brightly Woven enough credit. I loved it and it was amazing. 2. Worst book of 2010? I hate this one, I feel so mean answering it, but I really didn't enjoy Rich and Mad. I felt like it just didn't really have a point. 3. Most Disappointing Book of 2010? Again, I feel bad, but I guess everyone has different tastes. I really wanted to love The Thirteenth Chime but I just didn't. I still haven't finished it but who knows maybe it will pick up0. 4. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2010? This is a good one, I LOVED Bitter Melon by Cara Chow, I really thought I would like it but in the end the book just WOWED me. Great read, especially for teens. 5. Book you recommended to people most in 2010? I would have to say Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler, although it wasn't published in 2010. If you want a 2010 book I recommended most it would have to be Firelight by Sophie Jordan. 6. Best series you discovered in 2010? The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa, outside of that The Hunger Games although it was published a while ago. 7. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2010? Julie Kagawa, Rachel Cohn and David Leviathon, both together and separate. I also love Suzanne Collins and Sara Dessen. 8. Most hilarious read of 2010? Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, I just read it but it was published a while ago too. Out of this years Debuts I would have to say Paranormalcy was freaking hilarious. 9. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2010? Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. 10. Book you most anticipated in 2010? Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, it was one I didn't get my hands on until way after it came out! 11. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2010? I love the cover of Firelight, Nightshade, and Torment. All are so artsy and in your face. 12. Most memorable character in 2010? Evie from Paranormalcy, she was so exciting to read about. That book just rocked. 13. Most beautifully written book in 2010? Again, Brightly Woven. That was just such an intricately weaved tale. 14. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2010? Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler just drew me out of a reading funk I was in. I loved that book. 15. Book you can't believe you waited UNTIL 2010 to finally read? I would have to say Fallen by Lauren Kate and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
